The neck, décolletage and hands are often where skin changes show first. The skin is thinner, it sees a lot of sun, and it is easy to overlook while the face gets the attention.
The concerns people describe
- Fine lines and a crepey texture on the neck or chest
- Changes in tone and texture across the décolletage after years of sun
- Hands where the skin looks thinner and has lost some of its smoothness
- A difference between the face and the areas around it
How it's approached
These areas are assessed alongside the face, not in isolation, so the plan makes sense as a whole. Where treatment is suitable, the focus is on the quality of the skin itself, built up gradually over a course and reviewed as you go. Daily sun protection and skincare matter here as much as anything done in the clinic.
For vertical bands in the neck, see Neck bands. For sweating of the hands, see Excessive sweating.
Assessed, not assumed
Whether this suits you depends on your individual circumstances, which is what a consultation is for. Your options, suitability and pricing are discussed privately there.
Risks, recovery and realistic expectations
All treatments carry some risk. Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising at the treated area can occur, and the risks relevant to you are explained before you decide.
- The aim is gradual improvement in skin quality, not a dramatic change
- Thinner skin is treated conservatively
- Results build over a course and vary from person to person
Common questions
Can these areas be looked at in the same visit as my face?
Yes. They are assessed together at your consultation, and Dr Kirk will talk through what is suitable for each.
Why do these areas need a different approach?
The skin is thinner and behaves differently from the face, so plans here are deliberately conservative.
Is this a skin check?
No. A cosmetic consultation is not a skin cancer check. If Dr Kirk sees anything that should be looked at, he will tell you and point you to the right care.
