Questions, answered

A few of the things people most often ask before their first visit. If your question isn't here, we're glad to answer it at your consultation.

Getting started
Do I need a consultation before treatment?

Yes. A consultation and assessment with Dr Kirk is required before any treatment, so we can confirm what's suitable and safe for you. It's also your chance to ask anything, with no obligation to proceed.

How do I book?

You can book online, or call us on 0458 368 122, and we will arrange a time that suits you.

How long does an appointment take?

Your first visit is unhurried by design: enough time for a proper assessment, your questions, and treatment if you decide to proceed on the day. We'll give you a realistic idea of timing when you book.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Life happens. Just let us know as early as you reasonably can and we'll find another time. Your consultation fee is explained in full when you book.

Who treats you
Who will perform my treatment?

Your consultation, assessment, prescribing decision and treatment are all carried out by Dr Michael Kirk (MBBS, FRACMA), AHPRA registration MED0001217081. The doctor who assesses you is the doctor who treats you.

Should I see a doctor or a nurse for cosmetic treatment?

Both are lawful models. At Hillview, the same doctor assesses, prescribes and treats you throughout. We explain the difference on our doctor or nurse page.

Do you treat men?

Yes. Cosmetic treatment at Hillview is assessed individually for every patient, and men are welcome.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes. Hillview treats adults only, so you'll need to be 18 or over. Suitability is always assessed individually at your consultation, regardless of age.

Treatments
Which areas do people ask about for lines and wrinkles?

Frown, forehead and eye lines are the most common. People also ask about the brow, the jawline, a downturned mouth and neck bands. Each is assessed individually, see the areas we look at.

Do you offer facial volume consultations in Rockhampton?

Yes. Dr Kirk assesses changes in volume, lips and facial balance at a consultation, and talks through the options that suit you, from structural support to more gradual approaches. You can read more on our facial volume page. Specific products, suitability and pricing are discussed privately at your consultation.

Do I need more lip volume, or just a subtle change?

It depends on what you're noticing. Some people want fuller or more defined lips, and others only want the upper lip to show a little more. Dr Kirk assesses your lips and proportions and talks through which approach fits, see lip shape & volume and upper lip.

Will it look natural?

That's the aim. Our approach is conservative and tailored to your features, with the goal of a refreshed, natural-looking result.

How soon will I see results, and how long do they last?

It depends on the treatment and on you. Timing and longevity vary from person to person, and a realistic estimate for your situation is part of your consultation.

Comfort, safety & recovery
Does it hurt?

Comfort varies between people, and with the treatment and the area. We'll talk through what to expect, and what can be done to keep you comfortable, before we begin.

Is there any downtime?

It varies by individual and treatment. Temporary effects can occur, and we'll explain what to expect for your specific plan during your consultation.

Are these treatments safe?

All medical procedures carry risk. Cosmetic treatments are common, and we will always explain the risks relevant to you in full before you decide anything. You can read more on our safety and informed consent page.

Cost & pricing
How much do treatments cost?

Pricing is individual and is discussed at your consultation, because Australian regulations restrict how prescription treatments are advertised to the public. A consultation fee applies when you book, and the full terms, including how it applies to any treatment, are shown before you confirm. Your specific treatment and its cost are discussed and agreed privately at your consultation, before anything proceeds.

Why don't you list prices or product names?

Australian regulations limit how clinics can advertise prescription treatments to the public, so we discuss specific treatments, your suitability and pricing privately during your consultation, where advice can be accurate and individual.
