Lips are one of the most requested areas in cosmetic medicine, and one where a conservative, careful approach matters most. Your consultation looks at shape, proportion and what would suit your face. Dr Kirk talks you through the options, from the subtle to the more noticeable, and anything you go ahead with is done by him.

More volume, or just a subtle change?

There's more than one approach to the lips. Some add volume and structure. Others make a subtle change to how the upper lip sits, without adding any volume. Which suits you, if either, is exactly the kind of thing worked out at a consultation.

How it's approached

The lips are a delicate, expressive area, so restraint matters. Our aim is a natural, proportionate result, maintaining the balance between upper and lower lip, preserving movement, and avoiding an overdone look. Treatment is conservative and can be staged rather than done all at once.

  • A natural, proportionate result, not an overdone look
  • Conservative, and staged where appropriate
  • Movement and expression preserved
  • Suitability assessed individually

A doctor-led safeguard

Lip treatment is a medical procedure, and rare but serious complications are possible. In a doctor-led setting, the same practitioner who assesses and treats you holds the training and on-site means to manage a complication should one arise.

Assessed, not assumed

Whether lip treatment suits you depends on your individual circumstances, which is what a consultation is for. Your options, suitability and pricing are discussed privately there.

Risks, recovery and realistic expectations

This is a medical procedure and carries some risk. Swelling is common after lip treatment, particularly in the first day or two, and tenderness or bruising can occur; less common complications are possible and will be explained in full beforehand. The effect is temporary and needs an ongoing approach to maintain. Individual results vary, and what's appropriate for you is determined only after a proper assessment.

Common questions

Will my lips look natural?

That's the aim. The plan is built around your own lip shape and facial proportions, and it can be staged instead of done all at once.

I only want a small change. Is that possible?

Yes. Many people want definition or balance more than size. Tell Dr Kirk what you have in mind and he'll tell you honestly whether it's achievable.

What should I expect afterwards?

Swelling is common, particularly in the first day or two, and tenderness or bruising can occur. Less common complications are possible and are explained in full before you decide.
