You'll often see cosmetic treatment described as effortless, or as something you can walk straight out of with no trace. We avoid that language deliberately — recovery is real, it varies, and it's worth understanding honestly before you decide. Here's how we talk about it.
Why we don't call anything "downtime-free"
Any medical procedure can have after-effects, and describing one as carrying no downtime can set an expectation that doesn't hold for everyone. Different people experience procedures differently, including recovery. We'd rather tell you what's realistic than reach for a reassuring phrase.
What recovery can involve
Depending on the treatment and the person, temporary effects can include things like:
- Redness, swelling or tenderness at the treated area
- Small marks or bruising that settle over days
- A short period where you'd prefer not to have significant plans
None of these is universal, and their likelihood depends on the treatment, the area and your own physiology. What's relevant to you is explained in full before you decide anything.
Why it varies from person to person
Two people can have the same treatment and recover differently — that's normal. How your body responds, where you were treated and what the treatment involved all shape it. This is exactly why we talk through recovery individually rather than quoting a standard "back to normal by" line that may not apply to you.
Aftercare is part of the treatment, not an afterthought
You'll leave with clear, specific aftercare guidance for your treatment, and a point of contact if something doesn't seem right. Good follow-up is part of the standard, not an optional extra.
Planning around recovery
If you have an event or a commitment coming up, that's worth raising at your consultation — it can influence the timing and the plan. Thinking about recovery in advance is part of a considered approach, not an inconvenience to be minimised.
