Why doctor-led matters

Cosmetic treatment is medicine. At Hillview, that means a registered medical practitioner leads your care from first consultation to follow-up — here's what that involves, and why we've built the clinic around it.

Who provides your care

At Hillview Aesthetics, your consultation, assessment, prescribing and treatment are carried out by a registered medical practitioner — Dr Michael Kirk (MBBS), AHPRA registration MED0001217081. The same person who assesses your suitability is the person who plans and provides your treatment. Every step is provided by the same practitioner.

Understanding models of care

Cosmetic injectables are prescription medicines, so by law they require a prescription from a suitably authorised health practitioner. How that requirement is met varies. In some clinics, treatment is performed by a registered nurse working with a prescriber who provides oversight, and that prescriber may or may not be on site at the time of treatment. This is a lawful and common model when conducted properly.

The Hillview model is different by design: a single registered medical practitioner holds the whole thread — assessment, prescribing decision, and treatment — in the one consultation, in person. We think that continuity suits a considered, medicine-first approach, and it's the standard we've chosen to build around.

What a medical background brings to the room

A medical practitioner's training centres on assessment, anatomy, recognising when something isn't suitable, and managing the uncommon situations that can arise with any medical procedure. That clinical lens shapes every consultation — including the times the right answer is to recommend against treatment.

Governance, records and follow-up

Doctor-led care at Hillview also means the framework around your treatment: proper clinical record-keeping, informed-consent processes, and structured follow-up. It's the same rigour you'd expect from any other part of your healthcare, applied to a treatment you've chosen electively.

The bottom line

Every treatment is elective and carries some risk, and individual results vary. What doesn't vary at Hillview is who's responsible for your care: one registered medical practitioner, present throughout, accountable for every decision.

The next step

Start with a conversation

Every treatment at Hillview begins with a private medical consultation. There's no obligation to proceed.
