Polynucleotides & skin quality

Polynucleotides are an injectable skin treatment used to support skin quality — hydration, elasticity and texture. Here's what they are and how they're approached.

Polynucleotides are an injectable skin treatment used to support the quality of the skin — its hydration, elasticity and texture. They work with the skin's own processes over a course of treatments, rather than adding volume or creating lift.

What polynucleotides are

Polynucleotides are purified chains of naturally occurring molecules — the same building blocks found in the body's own cells, most commonly sourced and highly purified from fish DNA. Used in skin treatment, they're injected into the skin to support its condition from within: the qualities people tend to describe as hydration, suppleness and smoothness of texture. They're one approach among several for skin quality, and are chosen only when they genuinely fit your goals.

How they're thought about

Polynucleotides sit in a category of their own. They aren't dermal fillers — they don't add volume or reshape — and they're a little different again from hyaluronic-acid skin boosters, which are chosen mainly for hydration. Polynucleotides are used to support the overall condition and quality of the skin rather than to fill, lift or plump. Where more than one skin-quality approach could suit, we talk that through openly at your consultation.

How it's approached

Polynucleotide treatment is best thought of as a course rather than a single session: an initial series of treatments, followed by maintenance over time. Results build gradually, and the plan is paced and reviewed as we go. It's often considered alongside other skin-quality approaches as part of a broader plan.

  • Supports skin quality — hydration, elasticity, texture
  • An initial course, then maintenance — not a one-off
  • Results build gradually and are reviewed as we go
  • Not a volume or lift treatment — it supports skin condition
  • Often suited to more delicate areas where skin is thinner

Skin quality, not lift

Polynucleotides are about the condition of the skin, not lifting or reshaping it. If your concern is really about descent or volume, we'll say so rather than suggest a treatment that won't address it. Suitability and pricing are discussed privately at a consultation.

Risks, recovery and realistic expectations

Polynucleotide treatment is a medical procedure and carries some risk. Temporary effects such as redness, small raised areas, tenderness or bruising at the injection sites can occur and settle over days; the risks and recovery relevant to you will be explained in full beforehand. Improvements in skin quality build gradually across a course and are maintained with an ongoing approach rather than a single session. Individual results vary, and what's appropriate for you is determined only after a proper assessment.
